Dutch retailer Jumbo has created and launched a ‘veggie bingo’ game, to make tasting winter vegetables fun for families with young children.
To complete a bingo card, the children will have to taste eight different winter vegetables. For each vegetable they taste, they can add a sticker with a picture of that vegetable to the card. A full card entitles them to a reward, agreed on at the start of the game.
The tasting-menu offers curly kale, sprouts, broccoli, chicory, sauerkraut, endive and cauliflower, as well as 'hutspot', which is a traditional Dutch mashed potato, carrot and onion dish.
Blank stickers to write or draw a different choice on are also provided, in case a child - or the parent preparing the food - dislikes a particular choice or wants to try something that isn’t on the list.
As part of the promotion, Jumbo will keep the winter vegetables on special offer for the rest of the season, and will publish new recipes for each vegetable weekly, on its website.
