Dutch retailer Jumbo has launched a new range of sustainable milk and yoghurt that is 1-star Beter Leven certified.
It is a new quality mark for dairy products, developed by the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals in association with Bird Protection Netherlands and Nature and Environment.
The certification ensures that the products are sourced from farms that comply with animal welfare standards and follow eco-friendly dairy-farming methods.
An ‘Animal-Friendly Choice’
Olaf de Boer, director of buying and merchandising at Jumbo, said, “With the introduction of 1-star Beter Leven milk and yoghurt, we help our customers to make a more sustainable and animal-friendly choice.
“We are extremely proud that we are the first supermarket chain to be able to offer dairy with this quality mark,” added de Boer.
The new line offers semi-skimmed milk, whole milk, and low-fat and whole yoghurt.
