German discounter Lidl has launched a campaign to raise awareness about locally-produced organic products.
The campaign will see the retailer focus on the added-value of products developed in association with organic cultivation association Bioland and the farmers behind each product.
Lidl entered into a partnership with Bioland in 2018 to source high-quality products and help farmers switch to sustainable organic farming.
More Organic Items
The retailer added that it is aiming for 10% of its fixed range assortment to comprise organic products by 2025.
Currently, the retailer offers around 325 organic SKUs, around 75 of which are produced in accordance with Bioland guidelines.
These guidelines for cultivation, animal husbandry and processing are based on strict principles, and Bioland ensures full compliance from members and partners.
Lidl has pledged to promote sustainable agriculture and aims to encourage other companies to follow Bioland’s farming standards.
