Mercadona is on the hunt for fresh produce analysts, ahead of its forthcoming entry into Portugal, which is scheduled for 2019.
As reported by eleconomista.es, Mercadona has commenced selection process to hire 30 fresh food analysts. All of them will receive a 18 month-long training programme in Spain, where the company will provide them with the skills needed for the role.
Among the selection criteria, the company is considering whether the applicants live in Portugal or are willing to live there for a long period of time, as well as language skills.
Portugal is the first and step in Mercadona's plan for an international expansion and the company expects to start with four shops in 2019, which represent an investment of €25 million.
