The price of Parmigiano Reggiano has risen 30% since June, while production increased by 5% between January to September 2020.

Grana Padano
Sales of Grana Padano DOP in Italy increased by 7.9% in the nine months of September 2020 to claim a 47.4% market share with Trentingrana, according to a report from the Grana Padano Consortium.
This growth was largely driven by the grated cheese segment (+12.3%), which now accounts for almost a third of Grana Padano DOP sales (31.1%).
It gained ground in supermarkets and discount stores (+11%), with the most significant growth recorded in South Italy (+11%), which now accounts for 30.9% of sales.
Data also revealed growth in exports (+3.75% in January-July 2020) and production (+4.7% in 2019 and +5.44% in Q1 2020).
Hard Cheese
Overall sales of hard cheese in the retail channel grew by just 0.9% between January to September 2020.
The segment saw a 20.2% decline in market share as a result of challenges in out-of-home consumption due to the pandemic.
