Prelim, the Limousin-based fresh produce company, is to be the sole grower and distributor of the apple genus Evelina in France.
It will be marketed under a Perlim-Evelina dual brand, and each apple will bear a sticker showing both of the companies’ respective logos.
Béatrice Chauffaille, Perlim’s advertising and promotion manager, said, “This red variety does very well when grown in high altitude areas, which is our case here in Limousin, so this was one of the reasons we were able to make the deal.”
She added, “We want to target the French market in [as a] priority, but we also negotiate to be allowed to sell in Spain, because our brand is quite famous there as well.”
Perlim possesses 1,700 hectares of apple orchards, and yields 70,000 tonnes of the fruit annually.
