Record-Breaking Cereals Harvest Expected In Spain

The Spanish Trade Association of Cereals and Oilseeds (ACCOE) is anticipating a record-breaking cereals harvest in the country this season.

Efeagro.com reports José Manuel Álvarez, general secretary of ACCOE, is confident that the harvest will produce an extraordinary volume, especially as rain was plentiful during the season.

The harvest will begin in Andalucía and gradually extend to Castilla-La Mancha and Aragón, and eventually end up in Castilla y León. The quality of the production, however, is yet to be evaluated.

Álvarez added that prices, presumably, will stay low and will further decrease down the line.

According to ACCOE's figures, hard wheat is currently valued at €226.2 a tonne, corn is at €173.83 a tonne and soft wheat is at €173 a tonne.
