SuperValu To Sell €32 Million Of Irish Potatoes In 2017

Irish retailer SuperValu has announced that it expects to sell around €32 million worth of home grown potatoes this year.

The new season range of Irish potatoes includes Roosters and Queens, with Kerr's Pinks and Golden Wonders available in stores from August. Many of these have been grown by Chris and John Fortune, who have supplied SuperValu for 15 years.

"As second-generation growers, our farm has been building slowly over the last three decades, but developing strong partnerships like this and seeing your product sold in SuperValu stores across Ireland makes all the hard work worth it,” said Chris Fortune.

Local Sourcing

SuperValu sources from over 2,200 Irish suppliers, equating to annual economic contribution of €2.19 billion.

“As the number one supporter of the Irish agri-food industry, SuperValu is committed to delivering high quality locally-sourced Irish produce to consumers," said Martin Kelleher, managing director of SuperValu.
