Fresh-produce giant Total Produce B.V. has unveiled a new variety of melon, the 'Dino' melon.
The Rotterdam-based firm unveiled the Dino melon at the Amsterdam Produce Show earlier this month, in collaboration with a leading Brazilian supplier.
“This melon isn’t a mix of existing varieties, but a variety of its own," said Saskia Polak, product and account manager at Total Produce. "At the moment, our Brazilian supplier is the only one producing this variety and takes care of the limited production."
According to Total Produce, response to the melon was good among visitors to the show.
“Responses are very positive, and hopefully we can scale up volume, as sales are above expectations," said Polak.
