Ahold Delhaize's Giant Food Stores has announced that it has introduced a grocery pick-up service for online orders from its e-commerce hub in Lancaster in Pennsylvania.
The new service, Giant Direct, Powered by Peapod, was designed in partnership with Peapod Digital Labs to propel Giant’s e-commerce initiatives.
'Real Innovation'
Brand president of Giant Food Stores, Nicholas Bertram, said, “Our Giant Direct, Powered by Peapod location will deliver fresh, quality foods direct to your car, direct to your home, or direct to your business.
“We’re thrilled to bring real innovation to Lancaster‐area residents, but just as importantly, customers can expect the experience to be personalised, inspiring, and delivered with a smile.”
The project is a part of a $22 million (€19.2 million) investment in Lancaster County announced by the retailer in June of 2018.
The Process
Starting 12 February, customers can place their orders through any device by sharing their zip code.
They can shop from the Giant Food Stores website, the Peapod website, or the Peapod app.
Before checking out, they are required to choose between 'delivery' or 'pick-up' for confirming their order.
Better Services
“Giant Direct, Powered by Peapod will allow more loyal Giant customers, starting with our neighbours in Lancaster County, to shop how they want, when they want and where they want, whether in‐store, online or at a convenient pick-up location,” Bertram added.
The new service will replace the current branding model of 'Peapod by Giant' with a new logo and the tagline 'Direct from us, to you'.
