Italy’s Ferrero Bids For Belgian Biscuit Producer Delacre

Italian confectionary group, Ferrero, is planning to expand its activities to the biscuit market, by acquiring Belgium-based Delacre.

According to a report in Italian daily “La Stampa”, Ferrero recently submitted, via one of its subsidiary companies, a bid to acquire Delacre. The paper did not reveal any financial details.

Delacre has been producing biscuits and quality pastries for the past 120 years, selling them in Europe, the US and Canada, including under the brand Délichoc.

The deal is, allegedly, well under way, with the Ferrero management confirming that 'it would represent an opportunity to explore an interesting market in which Ferrero is currently not present and that has a significant growth potential'.

Delacre is currently owned by Turkey’s Yildiz Holding, the owner of Belgian chocolates Godiva and McVitie's biscuits.
