Rhône Valley bottle Joël Robuchon Ventoux is at the top of Amazon China’s ‘Most Popular Directly Imported Wines’ list, TheDrinksBusiness.com has reported.
The product retails at 150 RMB (€20), and it is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, in the proportions of 85% and 15%, respectively.
Of the top ten most popular brands, only one other is French, Amiral de Beychevelle. Australian SKUs dominate the rest of the top six, with the Lyrup Shiraz Cabernet coming second, then Tahbilk Shiraz, Penfolds Bin 2, Murray Street Vineyards The Barossa, and Wolf Blass Red Label Cabernet Merlot coming in sixth. Wines from the US and Italy round out the top ten.
The 200 imported wine brands sold through Amazon China are two and a half times as popular in the south of the country as they are in the north, the company has said.
