Discounter Lidl has announced plans to commence offering fresh and frozen produce as part of its click-and-collect offering in Germany.
The Grocer reports that the discounter’s current click-and-collect offering in its home market is based around non-food and ambient products, and the move to offer fresh will follow a significant investment.
A trial of the service will commence in Berlin in December, after which the retailer will roll out the initiative to other markets, should it prove successful.
While the click-and-collect service requires online ordering, there are no plans as of yet for the retailer to commence an online delivery service.
