Lidl Portugal is planning to export about 8 million bottles of Portuguese wine to its stores in 14 markets in 2016, a figure that exceeds the total exported in the last six years.
85 per cent of the wines to be exported are currently supplied exclusively to the 241 Lidl stores throughout Portugal, originating from various regions of the country, some of which have received awards.
The Portuguese wines will be available in Lidl stores in Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, France, Holland, Hungary, the UK, Italy, Poland, Ireland, Romania and Switzerland.
Recently, Bonvinitas, the 'International Wine Tasting & Magazine', praised three exclusive Portuguese wines from Lidl (Azinhaga de Ouro Vinho Branco Douro DOC, Azinhaga de Ouro Vinho Tinto Douro DOC RSV and Paço do Bispo Vinho Tinto Palmela DOC RSV), while The Times last year highlighted the Azinhaga Douro Branco 2014 as best among the top 50 white wines for the summer.
