L'Oréal Awarded ‘A’ Grade For Water Management

Cosmetics company L'Oréal has been placed on the ‘Water A List’ by the Carbon Disclosure Project for its sustainable management of water.

This designation comes on the heels of its receipt of an ‘A’ grade from the same body for its policies on carbon emissions,  It is the only French firm to achieve such a ranking.

The list was compiled by the CDP in conjunction with the South Pole Group, which specialises in reducing greenhouse gases. More than 600 large firms were assessed using an independent points system designed by leading experts in corporate water management.

“Water is a precious resource in danger and it is our responsibility to act in favour of its sustainable management. We are proud of this new recognition which highlights our commitment and the daily engagement of our teams, at all our industrial sites in the world,” said Jean-Paul Agon, chairman and CEO of L’Oréal in a press release.

The company has vowed to decrease its water consumption by 60% by 2020, from a 2005 baseline (in litres per finished product).
