UK retailer Marks & Spencer has confirmed that Jill McDonald will begin in her new role of managing director for clothing, home and beauty on 2 October 2017.
The appointment was first announced in May this year, with McDonald set to join the company from her previous position as CEO of bicycle and car parts retailer Halfords.
McDonald will now have accountability for all aspects of non-food business at Marks & Spencer, from design and sourcing, to supply chain and logistics, taking over from CEO Steve Rowe and CFO Helen Weir.
Special Relationship
“M&S has a unique, special relationship with its customers and I am very motivated by working closely with customers to drive and shape results," said McDonald.
"I have long been an M&S customer and professional fan, so working with the brand was a career opportunity that I just couldn’t turn down."
