Massimiliano Silvestri has taken over as chief executive of Lidl Portugal, a position previously occupied by Afroditi Pampa.
In a press statement, the Portuguese retailer said that the Italian manager takes over the helm of the Portuguese arm of the business after 15 years with discounter.
The 40-year-old Silvestri previously held the position of 'sales board member' at Lidl Italia for 13 years, during which time the discounter was acknowledged as Retailer of the Year four times, and a Great Place to Work three times.
This year, Lidl Portugal plans to invest €70 million in opening six new stores and reformulating 70 others. Currently, the retailer has 246 stores across Portugal.
