Mondelēz International has announced that Glen Walter will join the company next month as executive vice president and president for North America.
The snack food giant says that Walter will be responsible for leading the company's $7 billion business in the US and Canada, which includes brands such as Oreo, Belvita and Trident gum.
Walter joins Mondelēz from the Coca-Cola Company, where he held a number of senior leadership positions, including CEO of Coca-Cola Industries China, and chief operating officer of Coca-Cola North America.
"Glen is an inspirational leader with an impressive track record of building brands and driving growth in North America and beyond," said Mondelēz chairman and CEO Irene Rosenfeld.
"His deep operating experience in complex businesses, including a strong focus on sales excellence, make him a terrific leader for our North America region."
Walter succeeds Tim Colfer, who stepped into the North American leadership role on an interim basis in April, and will now return to his responsibilities as chief growth officer.
Management Changes
This appointment comes at a time of significant senior management changes at Mondelēz.
In August it was announced that Dirk Van de Put, former president and CEO of McCain Foods, will succeed Irene Rosenfeld as the company's chief executive, effective November 2017.
Long-time CEO Rosenfeld will continue as chairman of the board until 31 March 2018, at which time she will retire and Van de Put will assume the role of chairman and CEO.
