UK retailer Morrisons has announced an extension to its wholesale agreement with online retailer Amazon, which will see the grocer offer products for Amazon Prime customers.
The retailer will initially roll this service out in London and Hertfordshire on a trial basis, before further rollouts. Amazon will take care of delivery, which will be charged at £6.99 if within a one hour time slot.
Commenting on the move, Darren Shirley of Shore Capital said, “The supply agreement will utilise Morrisons' existing store network and will be consistent with the group's ambition to expand in a disciplined and capital light manner.”
In addition, Bruno Monteyne of Bernstein Research added, “For Morrisons this broadens the offer and gives them more ways to reach customers online where they are still in the early stages of development. For Amazon this is one of a vast number of things they are trialling.”
