Reports indicate that a new CEO at French retail giant Carrefour could be named as early as next May.
The new CEO would join as part of a transition process lasting until early 2018, with current chief executive Georges Plassat expected to step down from the role at that time.
Les Echos reported yesterday that the 70-year-old, who has suffered from health issues recently, will not be staying on with the company, which has led the board to commence the recruitment process for a potential replacement.
Thought to be in the running are Pierre Bouchut, a former CFO at Carrefour who is now with Ahold Delhaize, Bernardo Sanchez-Incera, former MD at Monoprix, Thierry Garnier, managing director of Carrefour China and Pascal Clouzar, managing director at Carrefour Spain.
Also said to be in the running is Alain Caparros, the current chief executive of Rewe Group, who has signalled his intention to step down in the coming years.
