Paper-packaging group Smurfit Kappa has announced the appointment of Carol Fairweather to its board, effective from 1 January 2018.
Fairweather, who previously was the CFO and executive director of luxury fashion brand Burberry, will join the board as an independent non-executive director.
The company will draw on Fairweather’s experience with Burberry, Smurfit Kappa chairman Liam O’Mahony told The Irish Times.
Executive Background
Fairweather was CFO and executive director of Burberry from July 2013 to January 2017. She joined the company in 2006 and was the senior vice-president of group finance before her appointment as CFO.
Before that, she was director of finance at News International between 1997 and 2005, and UK regional controller at Shandwick from 1991 to 1997.
The paper-packaging company recently received a German seal of approval for its performance-packaging technology, from Papiertechnische Stiftung, which is seen as setting standards in the industry.
