Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has unveiled new sports cap packaging for its Glacéau Smartwater bottled water brand, which contains Morpeth spring water.
The move follows a £14 million investment at the Morpeth manufacturing plant in Northumberland, England.
Having built a fully automated water processing and bottling line, the company said that this development will more than double production capability to 56,000 bottles per hour.
Before the update, capability was measured at 18,200 bottles per hour for this line.
Available in 850ml packs, the sports cap will be available to purchase this month.
Speaking on the news, Jane Buckley, operations director at Coca-Cola Enterprises Morpeth, said that Glacéau Smartwater has been a successful addition to the portfolio.
"Its unique, vapour-distilled proposition stands it apart from other bottled water brands. Bottled water with sports caps are in growth, ahead of the rest of the instant consumption water sector so this latest innovation offers real room for our retail customers to capitalise on this trend.”
