DS Smith has created an improved packaging method for the shipment of wine and olive-oil bottles.
The main goal of the project was to design packaging that would relieve bulk and not require supplementary wrapping, while also appearing more visibly attractive.
The packaging company aimed to create a solution whereby the protective packaging could adapt to different bottle shapes and sizes, as well as a combination of both wine and olive-oil bottles.
The final product is one piece of packaging that can be folded to allow for three bottles varying in size to be safely secured within.
The advantages, as perceived by DS Smith, are: lower costs and waste reduction due to minimal packaging, a reduced number of elements used in the packaging process, less storage required, and faster dispatch due to easy assembly.
