Packaging multinational DS Smith has won twelve prestigious WorldStar awards, the company announced.
Award-winning packaging solutions included display and POS materials, innovative transport packaging and eco-friendly packaging.
A chocolate-box with a display window and a transport box for flowers were among the winning products entered by the DS Smith UK team; its German team won an award for its innovative display for the Maggi ‘fix & frisch’ range.
The winning entry in Spain was the Octagon Box, designed to allow for more products per transport because of its shape - saving 25% on transport costs. The cardboard packaging also saves on material, as it's cheaper than wood.
The annual WorldStar competition aims to advance the standard in packaging. Quality, innovation-value and sustainability are the main criteria by which entries are judged, but only products already rewarded at a national level can be entered into the WorldStar competition.
The award ceremony will take place in May 2017, at the Interpack trade fair in Dusseldorf.
