Danone Eaux France has unveiled new packaging for its units of four 1.25 litre bottles that uses the minimal amount of resources, with Monoprix to be its sole distributor for six months, LSA-Conso.fr reports.
The new format retails from today (March 10) at an average price of €3.85. The product packaging was developed in conjunction with German firm KHS.
What differentiates it from ordinary packaging is that the bottles ‘gel’ together without requiring the standard encasing plastic cover.
Managing director of Danone Eaux France, Cécile Beliot-Zind, explained, "Glue in several different positions hold the bottles together.
"It took months of research to discern what the best kind of glue was, and the best quantities of it. We needed it to hold together properly when being transported, but also for it to be easy for the consumer to remove one of the bottles when needed."
"Promotional events [for the new Evian product] will take place in the 20 biggest Monoprix hypermarkets, and some of its other outlets will host in-store stands," she added.
