Gary McGann, the current chief executive of Smurfit Kappa Group, has confirmed that he will stay on in a non-executive director role when he retires as group CEO in August 2015.
McGann has led the packaging giant since 2002.
In other news, Smurfit Kappa has announced the appointment of Gonzalo Restrepo to the board as an independent, non-executive director with immediate effect.
Restrepo is the former chief executive of Almacenes Éxito SA, a leading retail company in Latin America and a subsidiary of the French company Casino Group.
“The retail market represents the end market for many of our customers, and we are delighted to bring an independent director with his depth of experience to the board,” commented Smurfit Kappa group chairman Liam O'Mahony. “We believe he will make a valuable contribution to the continuing growth and development of Smurfit Kappa in the Americas."
