Grupo Calvo has introduced a new way of producing, presenting and eating canned tuna that meets the growing consumer demand for simplicity, healthy options and sustainability.
The Easy Flip (Vuelca Fácil) packaging is the result of a €30 million investment by the company, and follows a restructuring of the manufacturing process at its Carballo plant near Coruña.
The new can will be available in Spain before being rolled out in other markets in which the company operates.
Climate Impact
The new packaging will see a 35% lower contribution to climate change compared to the traditional product.
It will also cut the amount of oil to reduce the packaging weight by 15 grams per can, while maintaining tuna quality.
'Easy Flip' meets the sustainability goals of the company's 2025 Responsible Engagement plan, whereby all tuna will be sourced from responsible and sustainable fishing by 2025, the company said.
