Soft drink bottler Refresco has entered into a strategic partnership with PepsiCo for the production of beverages in Spain.
The agreement, effective 1 November 2019, includes the transfer of two PepsiCo factories in Tafalla and Seville.
The two plants will complement Refresco's existing facilities in Spain and provide it with additional capacity for increasing production.
'Confirms Our Business Model'
Refresco chief executive, Hans Roelofs, commented, "This agreement is a very good extension of our relationship with one of our key customers, PepsiCo.
"It also confirms our business model in Spain, serving retailers and contract manufacturing customers."
PepsiCo's third facility in Echávarri Viña in Spain, will remain with the cola giant and continue production for Spain and other European markets.
'A Natural Partner'
PepsiCo's south-west Europe supply chain director, Victor Perez, said, "This new mixed supply model is key to our sustainable growth in the Spanish market.
"Refresco is a natural partner for PepsiCo as we successfully work together in other markets maintaining our high standards of quality and service."
Refresco has already partnered with the cola giant in other European markets, including France, Belgium, Germany, and in the USA.
