Italian edible oil company Salov has introduced its first rPET bottle for the Sagra brand.
The company will use the new packaging for 1-litre bottles of seed oils, including maize, peanut, sunflower, high-oleic, frying, and grape seed oil.
The packaging, made from 50% recycled plastic sourced from other bottles, offers the same quality and safety as traditional bottles.
The 1-litre range is just the first step and will be followed by the 1.5- and 2-litre formats.
Sustainable Consumption
Gruppo Salov's commitment to promoting sustainable consumption habits is not limited to introducing rPET bottles but extends to the entire packaging.
The sleeve covering the bottle, essential for protecting the product from light, is made from an innovative recycled plastic material.
In addition, the new packaging that replaces the plastic protective film uses 100% recycled cardboard.
These solutions will reduce the introduction of new plastic into the environment and the CO2 emissions of the company.
A Renowned Brand
Gruppo Salov, one of the biggest companies in the olive oil sector, generated a consolidated net turnover of over €275 million and sales amounting to 91 million litres sold in 2019.
Besides producing products under the Sagra and Filippo Berio brands, Gruppo Salov also produces extra virgin olive oil, olive oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil and peanut oil for private label brands.
Filippo Berio, launched in 1867, is available in over 75 countries and is a leading brand in the UK, USA and Russia. In addition to olive oil, the brand offers vinegars, glazes and sauces.
