Household products manufacturer SC Johnson has announced that all of its Mr Muscle trigger bottle products in the UK are now made using 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.
The bottles will also feature perforated sleeves to help increase recyclability, as part of SC Johnson’s commitment to tackle plastic waste.
Plastic Pollution
The move comes as SC Johnson aims to tackle plastic pollution, and is one of a number of changes made to its products.
The group hopes to triple the amount of PCR plastic in its packaging by 2025. It has achieved an increase of 8% towards its goal since last year, with PCR now comprising 14% of the manufacturer's packaging.
The manufacturer previously launched a new line of Mr Muscle Platinum Window & Glass cleaner featuring 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic bottles.
The bottles are the first of their kind in the UK to be made entirely of the material, with plastic for the bottles sourced from SC Johnson's global partnership with Plastic Bank.
The group's deal with Plastic Bank is part of collaborations with several other organisations to support circular plastic economy models and keep plastic out of landfills and the wider environment. The company is also a signatory of The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, a U.N. initiative to establish a common vision for companies to help create a circular economy for plastics.
