SCA Woods has inaugurated its new, 80 million SEK (€7.6 million) planing mill in Sweden’s Tunadal, which will increase productivity and result in improving product development and innovation.
The new mill is equipped with facilities and technology that allow new raw material intake, along with a new splitting line and new packaging line.
Sales and marketing director for Scandinavia at SCA Wood, Joakim Nehrer, said, “With this investment, we can meet our customers' needs and offer them more competitive products.”
Cladding will be one of the primary outputs of the mill, which will also produce studs and roof panels.
Sustainability Efforts
Manager of Tunadal's planing mill, Anna Schönström, said, “We have more than doubled our capacity with our new planing mill. And it feels good that the residues from the process become pellets.
“The pellets go back to SCAs value chain and become heat at Ortviken and Östrands mills.”
The new split saw in the mill is also contributing towards the company’s sustainability efforts by reducing the consumption of paint.
It is helping in manufacturing products with a more homogeneous surface that requires less paint.
