Coca-Cola UK has announced that it is launching a new bottle design for its Schweppes range of carbonated drinks and mixers.
The company says that the new look takes inspiration from the brand's original bottle, but adds a 'refined, modern edge'.
The bottles have a pear shape without a flat base, which are designed to ensure that the bubbles in the beverage last as long as possible.
"As a brand, Schweppes is always looking to innovate and deliver exceptional drinking experiences, and the packaging is of upmost importance," said Stijn Franssen, packaging innovator for EMEA within the Coca-Cola Company.
"We’ve made the opening design of the bottle as user-friendly as possible, so that consumers get a perfectly carbonated mixer from the first pour.”
The new-look range will be available in both classic and slimline varieties, in 200ml and 1-litre bottles, as well as cartons of six or 12 mini-cans.
Marketing Push
The new design is part of Coca-Cola's £6.6 million investment to promote the Schweppes range.
As gin increases in popularity in the UK, Schweppes has faced increasing competition from new tonic brands such as Fever Tree and Fentimans.
“Schweppes is the nation’s favourite tonic, and we know our products are the ultimate mixers," said Aedamar Howett, marketing director at the Coca-Cola Company.
"The brand’s effortless new look and luxury bottle shape complement the premium liquid, ensuring Schweppes will continue to be the UK’s number one,” Howett said.
