Packaging firm SIG has appointed José Matthijsse as president and general manager of its European division, effective 1 February 2021.
She will also be a member of the group executive board, the company added.
Matthijsse is an industry veteran with extensive experience in the food and beverage industry.
Most recently, she served as the managing director of Dutch dairy giant FrieslandCampina in Europe.
Before this, she served in Heineken for 18 years in various senior positions in several countries.
'Valuable Experience'
CEO of SIG, Samuel Sigrist welcomed Matthijsse to the company and commented, “Her valuable experience with food and beverage companies will ensure that we continue to meet and anticipate the needs of European customers. Together we look forward to sustaining our track record of growth in Europe.”
Matthijsse holds an MSc in food science technology from Wageningen Agricultural University in the Netherlands.
She succeeds Martin Herrenbrück, who left the company at the end of 2020.
