Packaging giant Smurfit Kappa has been recognised for its sustainability efforts by winning the Philips Lighting – Quality and Sustainability Excellence Award.
The award, presented by its long-term partner, Phillips, commends Smurfit Kappa for its innovation, expertise and commitment to the highest standards of sustainability.
Phillips recognised Smurfit Kappa’s guarantee that 100 per cent of all paper material that it supplies is labelled Chain of Custody certified, with traceable and sustainable sources. The award also acknowledges the group's continuing efforts to move towards a circular economy.
"Philips has awarded Smurfit Kappa for its continuous excellence in sustainable packaging solutions and its proactive support in optimising total cost of ownership in the supply chain while delivering a high level of quality and service on a daily basis," said Alberta Zawadzka, global packaging competence manager at Philips.
"This award is a continuation of our long-term partnership, and we look forward to growing together globally to intensify our global cooperation."
Smurfit Kappa intends to become 100-per-cent circular in the future, setting a minimum target of 98.2 per cent of its materials to be recycled.
