The '100% Juice Index' report, recently published by multinational packaging and food processing company Tetra Pak, has found that the market for '100% juice' is stabilising and might well return to growth in the coming year.
According to the report, more than 40% of consumers worldwide are currently drinking '100% juice' every day. 'All natural', 'fortified' and 'vitamin enriched' juices - suggesting health benefits - are preferred by 60% of consumers and account for two thirds of new products launched.
The blends using vegetables - to reduce the overall sugar content - are now the fourth most popular juice, with sales tripled since 2012. 'All natural' juices have seen an annual growth of 25% since 2012.
Tetra Pak President and CEO, Dennis Jönsson, said: “It is good to see that brands globally are turning the challenges presented by changing lifestyles and the sugar debate into opportunities. (...) As ever, the key to success is innovation, offering the right product at the right time to meet the modern consumers’ needs, and, just as importantly, capturing their attention and making a connection with them.”
