Packaging company Ardagh Group is working with Texan cider producer Argus Cidery to package their beverages, such as Ciderkin and Ginger Perry, in 12 ounce aluminium cans.
The owner of Argus Cidery, Jeff Mickel, said the team chose Ardagh beverage cans to reach outlying markets and allow customers to enjoy their products during outdoor activities, such as golfing or walking on the beach.
“Lightweight cans enable us to ship efficiently, nationally and minimise our carbon footprint,” he said. “It’s just the beginning. We’re excited about spreading our distribution reach and enabling consumers across the country to enjoy our products.”
Founded in 2010 to make ‘dry, effervescent’ ciders, the cidery originally used only Texas apples. The ‘orchard lot’ ciders now feature a variety of fruit produced in Southern orchards. The Argus Fermentables, which include the Ciderkin and Ginger Perry lines, are unpasteurised.
The Argus Cidery distributes its products in 13 states, including New York, Missouri, Louisiana, and Washington. New markets introduced early this year will be Tennessee, California, and Oregon.
