The ‘Label V’ logo, which indicates a product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, will appear on products in France, according to FranceInfo.fr.
The designation, launched 20 years ago by the European Vegetarian Union, is already present on products in Germany, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. Approximately 10,000 products carry it to date.
L’Association Végétarienne de France, which formally introduced the new packaging regulation, says it aims to improve the health of people, protect animal welfare, and care for the environment.
It also has committed to offer information to people considering vegetarianism or veganism, and reduce inequality in food distribution globally.
