French drinks-maker Pernod Ricard has announced that it is selling the Glenallachie Distillery to the three-person Glenallachie Consortium.
The figure agreed for the Scotch whisky plant has not yet been released. The deal incorporates the single-malt brand Glenallachie, as well as blended Scotch brands White Heather and MacNair’s.
Company Strategy
Pernod Ricard says that this disposal is in line with the company's strategy to focus on its priority spirit and wine brands, and to adjust its industrial footprint to its needs. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions, and it is expected to take place before the end of 2017.
The Glenallachie Consortium says that its mission is to 'be a wholly Scottish-owned, Scottish-based, and truly independent Scotch whisky company, producing excellent whiskies and offering them to the market at premium but affordable prices'.
