Pingo Doce has opened a new store in Sátão, in the Viseu district, bringing its network in Continental Portugal and the island of Madeira to 400 outlets.
This is the 14th supermarket to be managed by a third party, based on a model adopted in 2013. The profits are shared between Pingo Doce and partner, in line with the investment of each party, but the partners do not have to pay royalties.
The store consists of a 1,000 square metre sales area, with a strong focus on fresh produce, private label products and take away. There is also a cafeteria area and a car park.
According to owner, Portuguese retail group Jerónimo Martins, the new store will help strengthen Pingo Doce’s presence in northern Portugal, where it already has more than 150 outlets, focusing on proximity and convenience locations.
