The Albert Heijn Perla and AH Basic coffee-pod brands have been voted the tastiest on the market, according to the Consumentenbond, the Dutch consumers' association. The AH Basic range was voted a 'best buy' as well.
For the September issue of The Consumer Guide, which is published by the Consumentenbond 12 times per year, a panel of approximately 90 consumers was asked to taste and compare the brands of coffee pods available in the Netherlands. The Albert Heijn private-label selection was voted tastiest in the Regular and Dark Roast categories.
Commenting on the panel's verdict, a spokesperson for the Consumentenbond said, "Albert Heijn knows how to excite its customers' taste buds. Both its regular Perla and AH Basic, and dark-roast Perla and AH Bio, are among the tastiest coffee pods available. Everything about this coffee is right."
Zaandam-based retailer Albert Heijn has been sourcing, shipping, roasting, grinding and packaging coffee since 1896. The company continues to develop new products and variations, taking into account changing preferences among its customers.
