Dutch food retailer Albert Heijn has added a new quick-fix meal option, the warme maaltijdsalade, or 'hot-meal salad', to its private-label range of nearly-ready meals. The new option comes with a choice of three dishes.
In addition to traditional salad vegetables, the new format features potatoes or meat, presented in separate tray inserts. These additional ingredients can be heated quickly – for instance, in a frying pan, using oil – to make the dish a hot meal.
The choice of hot-meal salads includes: vegetables from Provence, with potato wedges and vinaigrette naturel; Greek kipgyros with potato wedges and tzatziki dressing; and Italian sausage with potato wedges and a white-wine-based vinaigrette.
