Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has introduced three new flavours to its private-label range of ready-made soups, called Excellent. Inspired by international cuisine, the range now offers six soups, or dishes (if combined with bread or rice).
Vegetarians can now choose from Moroccan Harira, made with chickpeas, tomatoes, spinach and cream; Indian Dahl, a red-lentil soup with carrot, cauliflower and yoghurt; or Thai Pumpkin and Coconut soup.
Options with fish or meat include French Bouillabaisse, a fish soup from Provence made with tomato, coalfish, mussels and prawns; Indian Peanut, a traditional Indian soup with chicken, peppers and leeks; or a Thai sweet-and-sour soup, Tom Kha Kai, with chicken, vegetables, lemon grass, and coconut milk.
