Aldi Süd has replaced its regular metal can packaging with Combisafe carton packs for a selection of its organic vegetables.
Combisafe offers the same food protection and shelf life for food, but has added environmental benefits.
Aldi Süd now offers organic baby carrots, organic kidney beans and organic peas in the Combisafe 300ml carton pack from SIG Combibloc. Carton packs are suited especially well to chunky foods, like vegetables, fruits or pulses, which cannot pass well through a pumping system, and consequently through an aseptic process.
According to Volker Bubacz, head of area marketing for Europe at SIG Combibloc, "The total package that Combisafe represents was a key factor for Aldi Süd in incorporating the innovative carton pack into its range. Combisafe ticks all the boxes you’d expect for long-life food packaging, and at the same time, it offers environmental benefits. Carton packs are proven to be among the most environmentally friendly packaging solutions for long-life foods."
Carton packs from SIG Combibloc are free of Bisphenol A (BPA). Exposure to BPA through food is suggested to have possible health effects on the nervous system and affect behaviour in children.
