Discount retailer Aldi is introducing a prosecco-infused chicken in its UK stores this Christmas.
The new dish, which is part of the retailer's Specially Selected range, features a whole British chicken, basted with a prosecco marinade, topped with a wine and mushroom seasoning and edible gold.
“Aldi is never one to miss a trend, which is why we created the Specially Selected Prosecco-Infused British Chicken with Gold Shimmer," said Julie Ashfield, joint managing director of corporate buying at Aldi UK.
"This fun and festive product is another example of amazing quality at Aldi’s everyday low prices.”
The prosecco chicken has been on sale in Aldi stores since Thursday, 14 December, at a price of £4.99.
Festive Foods
Aldi's new chicken dish is part of the retailer's range of alcohol-infused festive foods, which, it says, will 'add a twist to Christmas classics'.
Other products in the range include smoked salmon with Scottish whisky or Monsigny Brut champagne, and pork cocktail sausages with prosecco, cranberry and orange, as well as lamb shoulder with a cranberry and port glaze.
In terms of sweet treats, the retailer has been selling prosecco-flavoured honeycomb and espresso Martini fudge.
