Auchan Retail Portugal has launched a new private label wine range, 'Bando'.
Bando consists of 20 SKUs from five Portuguese wine regions, which 'represent the richness of Portugal's national wine tradition, with hundreds of years of history, and bring together the best that the country offers', according to a company press statement.
The plan is to eventually expand the offer to include wines from ten regions, symbolised by an emblematic 'bird' from each part of the country.
Wine Variants
The wine references include Vinho Verde Verdilhão, Bico Torto do Dão, Sisão do Alentejo or Galeirão de Setúbal, which feature grape varieties such as Alvarinho, TintaRoriz, Touriga Nacional, Alicante, Trincadeira, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Castelão.
The team of winemakers behind the range include Abel Condesso, Arminda Ferreira, Jaime Quendera, Nuno Faria, Rui Veladas and Tiago Garcia.
By the end of the year, Auchan Retail Portugal plans to expand its offer of Muscatel and sparkling wines, with the rollout of five new SKUs. The new range will also be exported and marketed abroad.
Bando wines are available in stores and via the retailer’s online shop, with prices ranging from €1.69 to €5.79.
