The Bakkavor Group has announced that its Caledonian Produce business has won the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Award at the 2017 National CSR Awards.
The UK-based food manufacturer won the award for its ‘Sustainability in Action’ campaign. The campaign succeeded in transforming the business’ approach to waste, which achieved zero waste-to-landfill.
Caledonian Produce said that it worked with Veris Strategies, its sustainability and communications partner, to create and launch the campaign.
Tackling Food Waste
The group has also significantly increased the amount of surplus food being re-used by the local communities and charities.
Tony Swindell, group CSR manager at Bakkavor said, “Winning this award is testament to our commitment to putting sustainability at the core of how we run our business and as a group we’re determined to tackle the issue of food waste”.
Caledonian Produce is based in Bo’ness, Scotland and exclusively manufactures fresh cut vegetables, salads and ready meals for Marks & Spencer.
