Belgian retailer Colruyt Group has announced that it is launching a new nutritious drinking product, Appetit.
The new private-label product, developed by the company's in-house R&D department and incorporating ingredients such as oats and fruit, will be promoted as an alternative, nutritious type of snack.
“It is important to emphasise that Appetit is not just another smoothie, protein shake or diet drink,” explained project manager Julie D’Haenens. “It is a nutritious meal-drink that leaves you satisfied.
“We focused on health, natural composition and nutritional value. We tested salty variants, such as tomato-carrot and paprika-oregano, but these were often associated with cold soup. We continued our tests with different kinds of fruit and selected the two flavours that scored best in taste tests: mango-passion fruit and raspberry-blueberry.”
The product is presented in a resealable bottle and has been available since 18 January.
