Cactus To Support Dragonfly Habitat Preservation Project

Luxembourg-based retailer Cactus has announced that it will donate a part of the proceeds from the sales of its ‘Bio Naturbrout’ to preserve the habitat of the Emperor's Anax - one of the largest dragonfly species in Europe.

In 2010, Cactus launched the organic bread range and has since forwarded 10c from the sales of each loaf of bread to the ‘natur&ëmwelt Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur’.

So far, the retailer has donated €161,062 to the organisation, which undertakes various projects aimed at protecting bio reserves.

The Project

The money will be used to acquire and manage a 1,500 square-metre pond in Mensdorf to accommodate the Emperor's Anax dragonfly species.

The move is an extension of the ‘Cactus Weier & Dëmpel’ project, initiated by the retailer and executed by 'natur&ëmwelt Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur'.

'Organic Agriculture'

Bio Naturbrout is a product of the ‘Zesumme fir eis Bio-Baueren’ range, set up by Cactus to promote local organic agriculture.

From the cultivation of organic cereals to its transformation into delicious artisanal loaves of bread, ‘Bio Natrubrout’ is a 100% local product, Cactus added.
