Retail giant Carrefour has launched a new vegetarian range called 'Carrefour Veggie - Vegetarian Cuisine'.
The range is now available in all Carrefour outlets in France and is made up of meals including wheat and onion nuggets, vegetable soy balls, cereal and vegetable pancakes.
Carrefour is the first French retailer to have an own-brand vegetarian range and it features approximately 15 meals, suitable for both flexitarians and vegetarian diets. Eleven meals from the new range are also suitable for vegans.
The inspiration behind the new range stems from the 'If I were Carrefour' campaign. Back in 2013, Carrefour was celebrating its 50th birthday and customers were given the opportunity to vote for certain brand initiatives online. Th results indicated that the demand for a vegetarian line was an obvious favourite amongst voters.
