Italian private label manufacturer Consilia registered a 5.9% growth of sales in the period January through to July 2015.
The data is from the Nielsen Like4Like10000 survey, looking at hypermarket, supermarket and independent retail sales in Italy.
Consilia produces private label products for members of the Supermercati Uniti Nazionali (SUN) consortium: Gros, Cadoro, Magazzini Gabrielli and Italbrix.
According to IRI data relative to hypermarkets and supermarkets, private label sales in August were up 4.3%. The highest growth was in the fruit & vegetable sector (4.3%), frozen (9.9%) and beverages (8.7%), with more moderate growth of fresh (4.1%), personal care (3.9%) and grocery food (1.9%) items. Both pet care (-2.4%) and home care (-0.4%) products saw a drop in sales.
As for Consilia, there was a double digit growth of sales for almost all products, with frozen (52.9%) leading the list, followed by fruit & veg (18.9%), fresh (13.7%), pet care (13.2%), beverages (12.2%), home care (10.3%) and grocery food (10.2%), while sales of personal care products dropped (-11.5%).
